In this course, Rick Torbett will teach you adjustments to your teaching strategies when using the Read and React Offense when attacking Zone Defenses. As a Read and React coach, Coach Torbett does not want you to have to change from the Read and React actions that your team already knows. This course details how to take what your team already knows about the Read and React Offense and apply it to attacking zones. This course will cover strategies for how Rick Torbett would attack each type of Zone Defense. The Shooting Course
In this course, Coach Rick Torbett works with two different teams of high school players to develop “Rapid Skill Acquisition”. Coach Torbett teaches techniques needed for a great shot. In almost 5 hours of intense guidance the players train completely through the shooting process, beginning before the shot is taken and continuing through the actions following the shot.
Read & React Boot Camp
In this 5-part series, the women’s team from Emmanuel College was filmed experiencing the Read and React Offense for the first time. The series covers five consecutive days of two or more hours of practice. The course teaches from a whole-part-whole perspective and focuses on the cognitive aspect of the system – preparing the team to learn the offense. The team learns the Foundation of the Offense: the first four “Layers” of Passing East-West, Passing North-South, Dribbling East-West, and Dribbling North-South. The practice finishes with a 5-player rehearsal in Full-Court mode.
Read & React : 3-Player Drills
In this course, consisting of 64 drills, Rick Torbett will teach you 3-player drills that help build your player’s decision making. Even if you’re not a Read and React coach, these drills will help in developing passing, cutting, hitting cutters on the move, changing speeds and angles on finishing, being catch ready, feeding the post, ball-handling, and that’s just in the first 20 drills! This course was designed by utilizing drills that coaches have told us have worked with their teams in creating great player habits and decision making.
First Day of Practice
After the first day of practice, will be surprised by your new team’s grasp of the big picture of basketball. They’ll be able to run an offense that can counter pressure and includes screens, the only shell defensive drill you’ll ever need, a play to bring the ball in from out of bounds, no matter which part of the court it goes out on. Many layers from RRW 101 are reviewed, but in 201 Rick takes you through more advanced Layers and shows you how to collapse time frames by combining layers in drill work.

This course is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. Coach Wouters begins the course with individual steps to build up a crossover, fake crossover, between the legs and spin move dribble. Bounce Off & Be Clever Workout
Whenever a player tries to dribble penetrate and gets stopped or simply doesn’t like what he or she sees, then award-winning coach Rick Torbett trains them to Bounce Off, that is, keep their dribble and simply back-out to the perimeter. This came out of Read & React Layer 4 Dribble Penetration Circle Movement. Many non-Read & React players and coaches use it and call it by the same name. In this instructional video, there are two elements: Teaching and Training. In the teaching section, we slow down and work on technique. In training, we use repetition to drill down and make it reflexive. It’s not always about being FAST! And even though you can’t always be the quickest, you can build an element of cleverness into your game.
Dynamic Defense -2 Player Level 1 Defensive Workout
To cut off the drive into the lane, players need practice. The drives start in a predictable way and then finish up with random moves, so that players learn the ability to counter any action taken by the offense. This video is for building and testing your level 1 Defense.
